SUMMARY


Thirty-four years designing and conducting effective interactive workshops for churches, single parent support organizations, and both adult and youth drug abuse recovery facilities. These specialized workshops focused on essential subjects for enhancing the experience of life, including interpersonal communication, goal attainment, life management, dealing with feelings, expanded awareness and understanding.



EXPERIENCE


2007-2009:    Weekly anger and stress management counseling and therapy for Mount Vernon Community Health Center Transitional Group Homes, Alexandria, VA.


1999-2006:    Weekly workshops on “Life Management” for Crossroads Adolescent Residential Treatment Center, Franconia, VA.


2003 - 2004    Weekly Life Management and Life Skills sessions for Loudoun County Mental Health.


Jan.-May 2001:    Co-Host Substance Treatment Opportunity Program for clients at Loudoun County Juvenile Court Services


May, 2001:    Half day seminar for the Staff at Loudoun County Juvenile Court Services on Stress Reduction and Creativity


October, 2000:    Training Day, full day seminar for the Staff at Loudoun County Juvenile Court Services on Team Building and Understanding


1999:    Weekly workshops on “Anger Management” for La Casa Transitional Treatment Center, Washington, D.C.


1997 - 1999:    Weekly workshops on “Anger Management” for Second Genesis Rehabilitation Center, Alexandria, VA.


1996 - 1999:    Weekly workshops on “Anger Management” for Second Genesis Rehabilitation Center, Rockville, MD.


1996 - 1997:    Conducted three 8 week “Life Skills” Courses for the Bladensburg, Md. Salvation Army Rehabilitation Center.


1996:    Conducted an 8 week “Dealing With Feelings” workshop for the Annandale, Va. Salvation Army Rehabilitation Center.


1995 - 1996:    Conducted workshops for the Salvation Army Rehabilitation Center, in Annandale, VA, for their Recovery Education Program: Self Esteem, Trust, Getting Over Anger, Anger Management, and Principles Of Communication.


1992 - 1995:    Director, Programs & Education; Fairfax Chapter, Parents Without Partners, Inc.


1987:    Published book, “Understanding Feelings”, designed to help non-professionals assist themselves and others dealing with emotional upsets, divorce, or loss; and to develop positive attitudes.


1984:    Awarded “Single Parent Of The Year” by International Parents Without Partners, Inc. as a result of the interpersonal communication programs designed for and adopted by that group.


1976 - 1995:    Designed and conducted workshops as a volunteer for various single parent and singles support organizations, including local and International Parents Without Partners, and various Unitarian and Catholic churches in Maryland and Virginia.


Programs included: Interpersonal Communication, Trust, Self Esteem, Dealing With Feelings, Getting Over Anger, Dealing With Depression, Stress Management, Anger Management, and Communication Skills.
